CR 230 - Criminal Investigations I


Credit Hours: 3

General objectives and qualities of a criminal investigator, history of criminal investigations, and investigative steps including preliminary, follow-up and closing, rules of evidence, interviewing techniques and body language.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • understand the history of criminal investigations;
  • how to conduct crime scene searches;
  • handling and marching of all physical evidence recovered; and
  • development of investigative techniques.


Prerequisites: CR 170 or permission of the instructor.
