EL 262 - Renewable Energy in Electric Power Systems Credit Hours: 3
This course covers several types of renewable energy including wind, photovoltaic and solar thermal electricity, tidal power, wave power, and biomass. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of conventional power generation and conditioning, and the effects of variable power generation on voltage and frequency stability. Circuits and machines used to convert renewable energy into electrical form will be examined. Electrical transmission and distribution systems, reactive power management, power and load flow, faults and protection will be introduced. Prerequisites: EL 150, EL 154, EL 206 S (N)
