EN 130 - Advanced Writing and Readings in Specific Disciplines Credit Hours: 3
This course is an advanced writing and reading course which can be tailored to the specific needs of individual academic programs. The course has a seminar or workshop format, to facilitate intensive instruction in reading and writing for specific disciplines.
Fulfills SUNY General Education – Basic Communication.
Course Outcomes By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of the conventions of content, organization, format, style and documentation which govern the professional writing in the discipline for which this course is offered;
- produce writing which is governed by the principles of clear statement and development of a thesis, organization, coherence, intelligibility, appropriateness to the topic, and correctness in mechanics and usage;
- produce writing which is generated by a coherent process that is clearly understood by the student;
- produce writing which is governed by the conventions of professional writing in the discipline for which this course is offered; and
- read and accurately interpret professional writing in the discipline for which this course is offered.
