AR 101 - Freehand Sketching / Lab Credit Hours: 3
This course is intended to teach traditional architectural field sketching skills and portfolio development. Students will also become more familiar with research resources within walking distance of ECC City Campus. Students will also become familiar with downtown Buffalo and its rich architectural heritage.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
- understand and apply basic hand rendering and sketching techniques using lines and drafting expression required for presentation drawings;
- perform basic field measuring of a building façade from the public right of way;
- develop and draw basic field sketches of building facades and vignettes of particular details;
- photograph building facades and details;
- perform basic historic research for particular buildings; and
- perform basic historic research for particular architectural styles.
