AT 235 - Lettering and Design Credit Hours: 3
The purpose of this course will be to provide an introductory exploration of various styles of calligraphy (lettering). Emphasis will be placed on traditional techniques, tools and styles of lettering, as well as newer concepts, materials and techniques that are used in contemporary society.
Fulfills SUNY General Education – The Arts.
Course Outcomes On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- recognize various styles of calligraphy and the tools and techniques used to create lettering design;
- analyze the history and organizational structure of various lettering styles;
- explore alphabet structure and character design; and
- explore typography and its use in graphic design.
