RE 104 - Aquatics


Credit Hours: 2

Designed to provide the student with basic swimming and water safety skills. Students that attain the necessary proficiency levels may receive certification in swimming. Recreational activities designed to provide fun and skill development are stressed.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • demonstrate and describe the skills necessary for safe and enjoyable swimming at the American Red Cross Stroke Development (Level #3) level;
  • demonstrate and explain basic water safety techniques as outlined in the ARC Basic Water Safety course;
  • identify and demonstrate the proper use of required safety equipment found in pools in NYS
  • design and conduct at least 2 age-appropriate water games and activities for pre-school, elementary, and secondary students.
