BM 243 - Heating Systems I


Credit Hours: 3

A course covering the fundamentals of residential heating systems, distribution systems, and associated equipment.  The installation, daily operations, and maintenance will be reviewed.  Troubleshooting methods using the latest in diagnostic equipment, the high efficiency resdidential systems, their control systems, and latest material used for distribution systems will also be covered.

Course Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course the student will:

  • understand principles of boiler operations;
  • understand ASME Code symbols and stamps and its meaning;
  • understand feedwater systems, fuel systems, and steam systems;
  • maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems; and
  • demonstrate oral and written skills through writing work orders and inventory reports.
