RA 150 - Summer Clinical


Credit Hours: 6

During this course the student gains familiarity with and builds proficiency in the techniques, terms and tools used for radiation therapy treatments. The student also prepares patient case studies and calculations.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • initiate and administer basic patient treatments;
  • demonstrate an understanding and the use of treatment calculations;
  • assist the physician/nurse with the patient in the exam room;
  • set and operate the machine and bed controls; and
  • identify and adhere to personal and equipment safety procedures.

Students will also begin to complete the required clinical and academic competencies consistent with those mandated by the ARRT, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Prerequisites: RA 102, RA 120
SS (C)

Each rotation consists of eight-hour days, five (5) days per week for the 12-week period.
