BT 113 - Foundations of Lean Manufacturing Credit Hours: 3
Due to recent globalization, the need for high quality/ low cost products and services is critical to survival in today’s business. This course teaches the basic methodologies of eliminating waste and redesigning work in a manufacturing environment. Students will apply these methodologies of how to improve quality, delivery and costs through hands-on simulations and exercises.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- define and recognize ways to improve processes, delivery, and costs within a manufacturing environment;
- demonstrate a thorough understanding of process improvements and increased productivity through team based simulation exercises; and
- demonstrate and understand the basic principles of lean manufacturing through collection and analysis of data.
Prerequisites: MT 125 or greater Sp (N)
