BT 113 - Foundations of Lean Manufacturing


Credit Hours: 3

Due to recent globalization and increasing customer quality requirements, the need for high quality/ low cost products and services is critical to survival in today’s business. This course covers the basic principles of LEAN manufacturing and introduces the students to basic principles of Six Sigma.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • define improvement opportunities;
  • measure current and future state;
  • collect and analyze data;
  • properly identify and apply improvement methodologies; and
  • document optimized and standardized process.
