BT 101 - Introduction to Biotechnological Science Credit Hours: 3
This course will introduce the principles and processes in the pharmaceutical, medical device and food industries. It will impart a thorough understanding of the organizational structure of a manufacturing facility and the steps involved from discovery to commercialization. Exposure to these basic principles will enable a better understanding of career opportunities in the biotechnology field.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- explain the key concepts of biotechnology processes from bench to commercialization;
- observe the divergence between Food Processing and Pharmaceutical manufacturing;
- characterize the primary steps of commercialization in the industry from inception of design to product release; and
- demonstrate proficiency in the application of quality control system procedures.
