EN 280 - Literature and Film


Credit Hours: 3

Selected written works and film adaptations will be examined and discussed.     

Fulfills the following SUNY General Education categories: 

  • The Arts
  • Humanities


Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between film (media) and literature;
  • demonstrate a knowledge of film and literary terms;
  • analyze the use of genre in both media;
  • demonstrate a knowledge of the techniques of film, and the unique challenges of adapting a literary work into a different media;
  • present, preferably in both written and oral form, at least one significant paper that offers an in-depth comparison of works in the two media.  This may be a research project; and
  • demonstrate an appreciation of the roles of creative endeavors such as film in enriching the human condition.
