AU 163 - Lab for Automotive Engines Credit Hours: 2
A practical study of the automotive engine including measuring and machining of the components related to the overhaul of a modern four-, six-, eight- or ten-cylinder internal combustion engine.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- completely disassemble, inspect, measure, machine, or replace all the internal components of an internal combustion engine. Testing prior to overhaul will include but not be limited to oil pressure, compression, and cylinder leak down.
- properly use all measuring devices as they apply to internal combustion engines.
- properly clean all components of an internal combustion engine and inspect for cracks or fatigue.
- apply the six-step diagnostic procedure to diagnose and repair problems in an internal combustion engine.
