The usage of modern testing techniques and equipment for diagnosing and servicing the fuel and emission systems.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

recognize the purpose and operation of components in the PCV, EVAP, AIR, CAT, EGR, and emission control systems;
Identify which general problem areas could cause excessive HC and CO emissions;
understand the basic operation of the microprocessor, the concept of closed-loop engine control, the necessity for precise control of air/fuel ratios, and the operation of the oxygen sensor and other engine sensors;
understand the operation of the fuel system, its components, and types; and
understand the manufacturer’s diagnostic procedures and equipment needs.
