AO 205 - Electronics Credit Hours: 3
This lecture/lab course will focus on the electronic components and the electrical architecture of modern automotive electrical systems. This course will highlight the many automotive electronic features found on a modern vehicle. Study will also include the diagnosis of controller network issues.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- describe the behavior of semiconductors and discover their use in automotive electronic control units;
- demonstrate the proper use of the automotive service information required to diagnose faults with a controller network;
- identify the inputs that are required within an automotive supplemental restraint and other safety systems;
- diagnose the cause of an inoperative output of an electronic control unit; and
- follow manufacturers’ diagnostic procedures to properly diagnose and repair DTCs that are stored within modules that control advanced electronic systems.
