BR 102 - Building Trades Practicum II


Credit Hours: 4

A continuation of BR 100, further developing interior finishing techniques considering restoration techniques. Other topics will include maintaining exterior finish materials, replacement of exterior windows and doors, and maintaining roofing materials. Course to be offered at a building site.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. understand safety standards;
  2. understand general building codes;
  3. understand material selection;
  4. understand renovation techniques;
  5. install and finish gypsum board;
  6. install gas, potable water, and/or DWV systems;
  7. understand wiring principles;
  8. understand insulation techniques;
  9. recycle building materials;
  10. install windows and/or doors; and
  11. install siding.

NOTE: The above skills may be dependent on on-site activities during the semester.
