BU 140 - Introduction to Business


Credit Hours: 3

The course is a survey course that introduces the student to the contemporary business world. Topics include economic factors, forms of business ownership, managing people in organizations, principles of marketing, managing information, and various financial issues.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. distinguish the pros and cons of the various forms of business legal structure;
  2. prove an understanding of the ways in which federal, state, and local governments influence and control business; and
  3. discuss the skill sets needed by employees functioning in a variety of roles within the firm.
