CH 119 - Lab for CH 118


Credit Hours: 1.0

This basic laboratory course assumes no prior laboratory experience. Emphasis is placed on experimental procedures, manipulations, techniques, data gathering, and data evaluation. Experiment topics will demonstrate how the science of chemistry can be applied to criminal investigations.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. conduct experiments that provide support for key principles covered in the lecture;
  2. develop the ability to make observations, gather and classify data;
  3. develop an awareness of the hazards of chemical substances and how to work with them safely;
  4. prepare a laboratory report;
  5. demonstrate the proper and safe use of laboratory equipment; and
  6. apply chemical principles and analytical methods to criminal investigations.
