CI 175 - Computer-Aided Drafting I


Credit Hours: 3

A basic computer-aided drafting course using the latest release of AutoCAD. Laboratory projects include using the AutoCAD program in developing drawings consisting of orthographic projections, building plans, site plans and topographical drawings. Additional topics covered are title blocks, scanned images, flow diagrams and schematics. Students are instructed in methods used to develop electronic photo images as background layers for renovation drawings.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. utilize the elements of AutoCAD to create 2D computer contract drawings for construction and/or engineering;
  2. apply elements of construction and civil engineering drafting utilizing productivity tools through drawing formats, icons, layers, dimensions, hatching, and plotting; and
  3. create and utilize blocks, template files, and reference files used in construction and/or engineering contract drawings.
