CO 275 - Site Estimating Credit Hours: 3
This is a course studying various types of estimates with approximate and exact methods of quantity takeoff, methods of arriving at lump sum and unit prices, and methods of itemizing preliminary and final estimates. These methods are applied to selected problems taken from various residential and commercial site work outside the building footprint. Spreadsheets are used for recapitulation. The course also utilizes methods used to excavate, compute volumes, and estimate costs for site features, paving, utilities, planting, and site demolition.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- ability to obtain quantity takeoffs from drawings used to estimate site construction costs;
- apply labor, material, and equipment costs for general site construction; and
- summarize and breakdown quantities and costs in a Cost Analysis Worksheet.
