CP 270 - Peripherals II Credit Hours: 3
A study of the architecture and functional operation of mass storage and direct memory access (DMA) devices, including USB units. The function of I/O programming and control will be emphasized.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of digital magnetic recording theory;
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of hard disk drive operations;
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of optical disk basics (CD and DVD);
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of DMA operation; and
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of addressing methods.
