CP 270 - Peripherals II


Credit Hours: 3

A study of the architecture and functional operation of mass storage and direct memory access (DMA) devices, including USB units. The function of I/O programming and control will be emphasized.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. demonstrate a basic knowledge of digital magnetic recording theory; 
  2. demonstrate a basic knowledge of hard disk drive operations;
  3. demonstrate a basic knowledge of optical disk basics (CD and DVD);
  4. demonstrate a basic knowledge of DMA operation; and
  5. demonstrate a basic knowledge of addressing methods.
