HR 274 - Front Desk Operations


Credit Hours: 3

An introductory study of all aspects of the front office of hotels and motels. Topics will include reservation procedures, rooming procedures, front office accounting, interpersonal communications, and the handling of cash and credit.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. perform basic functions related to the operation of a hotel front desk;
  2. provide a level of service required in the industry today;
  3. apply general principles of recordkeeping, auditing, and revenue control;
  4. coordinate the guest cycle; and
  5. identify and correct problems that arise in normal day-to-day hotel operations.
