HR 285 - Promotional Strategies in Hospitality


Credit Hours: 3

This course focuses on the principles of hospitality promotions as a key management function. Emphasis will be on information systems, consumer behavior, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of a hospitality promotional plan.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. discuss the principles of hospitality promotions as a key management function;
  2. describe market information systems, research, and analysis;
  3. discuss the behavior of the hospitality consumer as they go through the purchase decision;
  4. develop a promotional plan/strategy for a hospitality operation;
  5. discuss the implementation of a hospitality promotional plan through advertising, promotion, merchandising, personal selling; and
  6. explain the process of promotion, evaluation, and control.
