IE 101 - Lab for IE 100

Credit Hours: 1

Experiments include electrical safety; circuit construction and measurement of voltage, current, resistance, and power for DC circuits; series, parallel, and combination DC circuits; voltage, current, impedance, phase, and power measurement for AC circuits; and impedances in series and parallel AC circuits. Single and three-phase AC circuits are considered.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. understand theoretical concepts as they apply to electrical circuits;
  2. understand and correctly use electrical terminology, symbols, and units;
  3. identify basic components and determine their function in various types of circuits;
  4. apply electrical theory and concepts to determine the circuital values of voltage, current, and power;
  5. employ a systematic and methodical approach to mathematically solving circuital problems;
  6. write a neat, concise laboratory report; and
  7. learn to use a digital multimeter and an analog Volt-Ohm meter.
