MA 119 - Medical Computer Applications I Credit Hours: 2
Working with a Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office 365 software suite, Medical Assisting students will save and retrieve files, organize documents into appropriate folders and subfolders, and use the Microsoft Word application and features such as Mail Merge and Developer to create, edit and format documents, templates and fillable forms related to healthcare and medical practices.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Navigate within a Microsoft Windows operating system and apply Windows and Microsoft Office 365 functions to save, organize and retrieve file and folders
- Create, edit and format business letters, reports, memos, and tables following specific criteria
- Apply Microsoft Word keyboard shortcuts during document production
- Collaborate with others tracking changes and adding comments to documents
- Create letters using the Mail Merge feature
- Produce password protected documents, templates and fillable forms using the Developer feature

This course is required for the Medical Assisting AAS Degree and 100% of the Psychomotor and Affective competencies need to be passed. Reminder: To be eligible for an Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting, students must attain a C average or better in all MA courses
