MA 220 - Medical Computer Applications II


Credit Hours: 2

Working with a Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office 365 software suite, Medical Assisting students will use the Microsoft Excel application to work with formulas and create, edit and format spreadsheets related to healthcare and medical practices. Students will also use Microsoft PowerPoint to create and edit presentations with incorporated graphics, photos and voice recordings.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Navigate within a Microsoft Windows operating system and apply Windows and Microsoft Excel functions to work with formulas and create, edit and format spreadsheets
  2. Create and edit patient data and medical facility budgets using Microsoft Excel
  3. Use Microsoft Excel to perform calculations on a variety of medical reports using formulas, statistical functions, absolute and 3D cell addresses and arrays
  4. Create visual representations of Microsoft Excel data using charts, graphs, sparklines, pivot tables, charts and conditional formatting
  5. Apply Microsoft PowerPoint functions to create and edit presentations with incorporated charts, graphics, photos and voice recordings

This course is required for the Medical Assisting AAS Degree and 100% of the Psychomotor and Affective competencies need to be passed. Reminder: To be eligible for an Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting, students must attain a C average or better in all MA courses
