ME 280 - Fluid Power


Credit Hours: 2

A broad, general, and practical coverage of fluid power technology intended to acquaint students with basic design, functions, and applications of fluid power components and systems in the area of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. relate the principles of fluid mechanics and energy transfer to fluid power applications;
  2. identify the A.N.S.I.; national fluid power symbols and analyze fundamental circuits;
  3. formulate with theory, the solutions to problems of practical fluid power in industry;
  4. use computer solutions for these applications;
  5. set up the fluid power lab apparatus, take measurements; and
  6. write technical reports.


Prerequisites: MT121 or MT125
Concurrent Registration: ME 281 or permission of the instructor.
