ML 111 - CLT Seminar Credit Hours: 1
This course presents an overview of the profession of the Clinical Laboratory Technician. The student will be introduced to the basic terminology which will be encountered in each of the disciplines within the field of laboratory science. Discussions will include laboratory safety and career planning.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the various departments of the clinical laboratory and what tests are done in each department. (C, TL I, PC 4)
- Explain the purpose of the clinical laboratory technician/technologist certification and licensure procedures, accrediting agencies, and employment opportunities in the field. (C, TL III, PC 1)
- Demonstrate an understanding of laboratory safety procedures and bloodborne pathogens. (C, TL II, PC 2)
- Demonstrate an understanding of HIPPA regulations when working with patient information. (C, TL II, PC 7)
