ML 121 - Serology Lab Credit Hours: 1
The lab for ML 120. This course covers basic lab skills such as serological vs micro-pipetting and the making of dilutions. It then moves on to discuss various techniques to test for disorders of the immune system. Precipitation and agglutination reactions, immunoassays, DNA and RNA electrophoresis, flow cytometry, and molecular analysis techniques are covered.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Master the skills of various types of pipetting and the making of dilutions (P, TL II, PC 4).
2. Perform various types of antigen-antibody precipitation and agglutination testing for disease diagnosis. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6)
3. Perform various types of immunoassays for disease diagnostic testing (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6).
4. Perform DNA and RNA electrophoresis for disease diagnostic testing (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6).
