ML 215 - Hematology I Lab


Credit Hours: 1

Hematology I Lab will consist of laboratory exercises on hospital obtained and micro-collection specimens. Special testing procedures may be performed. Automated counting devices, computer data entry, and basic case studies are introduced. Students must report results properly, recognize reference ranges, and relate fundamental clinical significance of results outside of normal ranges.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Perform all routine and special procedures with maximum accuracy and integrity. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6)
  2. Report results in a concise and timely manner using appropriate units and hospital formats. (P, TL II, PC 5, 6)
  3. Assess for sources of error in all procedures and indicate appropriate corrective actions required. (P, TL III, PC 4, 5, 6)
  4. Use internal check systems and quality control to monitor equipment, procedure and recognize erroneous results. (P, TL II, PC 2, 5)
