ML 217 - Immunohematology I Lab Credit Hours: 1
In Immunohematology I Lab, the student will practice procedures routinely performed in a transfusion service including ABO and Rh, antiglobulin and compatibility testing. The student must achieve a minimum grade of 80 percent on the final practical exam to pass the course. (Note: a critical mistake (ABO-Rho) during the final practical/competency will result in automatic failure in the course).
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Perform blood grouping and typing procedures in tube and gel systems. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6)
- Competently perform the fundamental skill of testing for subgroups of A&B blood types. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6)
- Competently perform procedures for antibody detection in tube and gel systems. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6)
- Competently perform procedures for transfusion compatibility testing. (P, TL III, PC 2, 4, 5, 6 )
