PE 101 - Introduction to Athletic Training


Credit Hours: 3

This course is designed to deal with the principles of athletic training: immediate care for injuries, prevention, rehabilitation, and protective strapping.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. describe the roles and responsibilities of an athletic trainer;
  2. describe the organic, skeletal, and neuromuscular structures of the body;
  3. explain the legal concerns and insurance issues related to the athletic training profession;
  4. summarize the major components of injury prevention and how to minimize risks to athletes; and
  5. apply bandaging and taping techniques to the upper and lower extremities.
