SA 110 - Counseling Approaches with the Chemical Abuser
Credit Hours: 3
This course will teach counseling techniques and intervention methods useful in the treatment of the chemical abuser. Intake and assessment techniques will be included. Students are taught basic human relations counseling skills including attending, responding, personalizing, and initiating.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- exhibit proficiency in attending, responding, personalizing, and initiating skills;
- gain increased self-awareness of their counseling approach and how it impacts the client; and
- demonstrate competency in the basic structure of interviewing and counseling.
