CT 170 - Collision Technology Internship 2

Credit Hours: 1

This work experience will provide opportunities to apply the knowledge and practice the skills that were gained in CT 140, CT 160, and CT 180 within a registered Collision repair facility. Students will log their experiences and receive feedback from their mentors, managers, and instructors.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

recognize the different properties and repair methods of the various substrates;
identify the different parts of a vehicle and the methods of attachment;
properly disassemble damaged vehicles with proper labeling of parts and components;
recognize the difference between multi-use and one-time-use fasteners;
follow Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) regarding disassembly, part labeling, and organization along with the 3 Tier Parts cart system;
explain the importance of good customer relations;
maintain communication with the customer throughout the repair process;
complete a checklist for final vehicle delivery;
explain the importance of customer satisfaction surveys and questionnaires;
perform basic welding techniques;
recognize and duplicate the different weld joints found on today’s vehicles;
setup and operate welding equipment;
perform the different welding processes;
remove and replace welded body panels; and
restore a vehicle’s structural integrity while welding.
