CT 240 - Advanced Automotive Refinishing

Credit Hours: 6

This lecture/lab course will allow students to gain knowledge and experience in advanced refinishing techniques and procedures. Topics will include anticorrosion coatings, application of basecoat/clearcoat finishes, color blending, duplicating factory topcoats, sound deadeners and undercoatings, and final vehicle detailing for delivery to the customer.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

apply anticorrosion coatings to restore factory protection;
mix and apply basecoat/clearcoat finishes;
complete refinish repairs as per the damage estimate/repair order;
sand and buff the finish to duplicate the factory appearance;
utilize sprayout cards to achieve a blendable match;
apply sound deadeners in the proper locations - interior and exterior; and
completely detail the interior and exterior of a repaired/refinished vehicle for delivery to the customer.
