CW 113 - Health Program Planning and Evaluation


Credit Hours: 3

This course introduces procedures to determine public health population-based interventions.  Upon course completion, students will be able to utilize tools that will empower them to develop and evaluate effective programs which will be assessed on outcomes.

This course incorporates other skills relevant to program planning and evaluation including research methods, epidemiology budgets, proposal composition, and effective program evaluation. 

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. describe basic elements of program planning in public health. Elements include: assessing needs, developing goals and activities as well as preparing budgets, and evaluating the success of the intervention;
  2. identify barriers to program success, then develop strategies to overcome them; and
  3. demonstrate competence in the development, implementation, and evaluation of public health.
