MH 200 - Advanced Pneumatics and Hydraulics Credit Hours: 4
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the advanced concepts and current practices of industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in a manufacturing environment. Each course module will cover pneumatic and hydraulic theory along with hands-on practical applications and laboratory assignments. Topics of study include air logic, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance, pneumatic and hydraulic DCV applications, air compressors, vacuum systems, hydraulic motor and pump performance and designing practical applications of pneumatics and hydraulics.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand pneumatic and hydraulic DCV applications.
- Describe air logic compared to electrical systems.
- Describe hydraulic relief valve and check valve operation.
- Understand vacuum systems and air compressors in pneumatic systems.
- Identify hydraulic cylinder applications.
- Demonstrate proper hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance.
- Understand hydraulic pump and motor performance.
- Research various principles of physics to real-world situations in fluid power.
