EN 120 - Composition and Occupational Communication


Credit Hours: 3

Development of skills in writing, reading, speaking and critical thinking. Students will have written and oral practice in a variety of business and technical reports.

Fulfills SUNY General Education – Basic Communication.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • identify essential elements of oral and written communication;
  • utilize essential elements of communication including semantics and syntax;
  • identify the differences and similarities of non­ technical and technical writing;
  • write reports identifying an audience and purpose, with few grammatical errors;
  • demonstrate the writing process through research and reports; and
  • deliver and analyze an oral presentation.
