CO 230 - Building Estimating Credit Hours: 3
This is an introductory course studying various types of estimates with approximate and exact methods of quantity takeoff, methods of arriving at lump sum and unit prices, and methods of itemizing preliminary and final estimates. These methods are applied to selected problems taken from various residential and commercial building projects. Cost Analysis Worksheets (spreadsheets) are used for recapitulation.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- obtain quantity takeoffs from drawings used to estimate building construction costs;
- apply labor, material, and equipment costs for general building construction; and
- summarize and break down quantities and costs in a Cost Analysis Worksheet.
