FR 112 - Intermediate French Credit Hours: 3
This course aims to improve the student’s fluency in audio-lingual skills with special emphasis on the understanding of the grammatical structure of French through selected contemporary French texts.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- comprehend and utilize fundamental vocabulary in speech, reading, and writing;
- utilize more advanced grammatical structures of the language;
- understand, read, and write beginning intermediate French;
- speculate about the future, relate sentences in a more complex fashion, and write brief, coherent, and correct paragraphs on simple topics; recognize the cultural diversity of the people who speak the language; and
- become familiar with the writers and works of introductory level works.
Prerequisites: FR 111 Cycles (C,N,S)
The course is intended for three types of students: those who passed the third-year high school NY Regents; those who passed FR 111; or those with an equivalency of study in the language.
