HS 100 - Introduction to Homeland Security Credit Hours: 3
This introductory course to homeland security will provide students with a basic understanding of the practices and principles of homeland security including, but not limited to, a study of the formation of the Department of Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, and other legislation pertaining to homeland security. Students will also receive a fundamental understanding of terrorism.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- understand what the term Homeland Security means; and
- understand how our government completely reorganized 22 different departments or agencies into one department responsible for Homeland Security.

This course can be used as a criminal justice elective or an open college elective.
