RA 240 - Radiotherapy Technology IV Oncology Credit Hours: 3
Further discussion regarding the various methods of diagnosing and treating malignancies. The signs and symptoms of cancer will be further discussed and the indications for treatment by radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, or a combination thereof. The ideal treatment methodology for the various anatomical sites incorporates both the biological and the radiobiological rationale.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- explain the different etiologic factors that could induce cancers;
- explain the various epidemiologic factors and thus be able to identify the various population groups with tendencies toward certain tumors;
- explain the anticipated spread of disease from the sites that have been discussed; and
- list and describe the various treatment modalities for each site, e.g. radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, or a combination thereof.
Prerequisites: RA 230 Corequisites: RA 204 S (C)
Two (2) 75-minute classes per week for fifteen (15) weeks.
