SP 111 - Elementary Spanish II

Credit Hours: 4

Continuation of SP 110. For students with up to three years of high school Spanish or did not pass the third year of NYS Regents or successful completion of SP 110. Comprehension of basic grammar principles is stressed, along with aural comprehension and oral expression. Reading and writing more complex sentences is expected. In fully seated courses students will participate in laboratory work as selected by the individual campus.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

comprehend and utilize fundamental vocabulary in speech, reading, and writing;
utilize basic grammatical structures of the language;
understand, read, and write basic Spanish;
converse in the language on a basic level;
recognize the cultural diversity of the people who speak the language; and
acquire knowledge of the areas of the world where the language is spoken.
