CT 245 - Collision Technology Lab Seminar 4


Credit Hours: 1

This lab seminar will provide opportunities to apply the knowledge and practice the skills that were gained in CT 240, CT 260, and CT 270 in an open lab setting.  Students will log their experiences and receive feedback and grading from their instructor.  

This seminar is for those students who do not choose to participate in the Internship courses.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • apply anticorrosion coatings to restore factory protection;
  • mix and apply basecoat/clearcoat finishes;
  • complete refinish repairs as per the damage estimate/repair order;
  • sand and buff the finish to duplicate the factory appearance;
  • utilize spray-out cards to achieve a blendable match;
  • apply sound deadeners in the proper locations - interior and exterior;
  • completely detail the interior and exterior of a repaired/refinished vehicle for delivery to the customer;
  • describe the theory and operation of base and hydraulic brake systems;
  • utilize service information to diagnose and service vehicle under-car components;
  • inspect, repair, and replace vehicle brake, suspension, and steering components;
  • develop safe working habits when dealing with automotive under-car systems;
  • perform tire inspections, repairs, and mounting/balancing on various types of tire equipment;
  • demonstrate proper alignment procedures, including measuring, interpreting measurements, and performing corrective adjustments according to the manufacturer’s recommendations; and
  • recommend and properly document repairs outside of normal alignment adjustments to correct suspension and steering concerns caused by collision damage.
