Program Description

The Accounting Basics microcredential is for individuals who want to gain an in-depth understanding of foundational accounting principles and how to apply them in practice. This microcredential is part of a business microcredential series that we aim for offer at SUNY Erie.

 

Admission Requirements

The current requirements that SUNY Erie has for incoming students would apply to this MC.  Students must be ready for college math and English based on placement tests or high school transcript grades. 

Outcomes

Upon earning a Micro-credential in Accounting Basics, students will be able to:

  • have a basic measurable competency in bookkeeping and elementary accounting, including journalizing, posting, and statement preparation;
  • keep a simple set of manual books for a small business and demonstrate familiarity with the accounting cycle.; and
  • blend the theory of accounting with the pragmatic advantages of the computer to maintain and interpret a high-quality set of books.
