Microcredential
Program Description
Vacuum technology is critical for manufacturing high-tech products like semiconductors, optics, health care products, architectural glass, and more. Thin film technology is a specialized area within this category.
The Vacuum Technology Microcredential is recommended for individuals who have completed or are close to completion of a 2-year technical degree (with the necessary background in college algebra and chemistry or physics) or a four-year technical or non-technical degree and plan to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the field of vacuum technology. Completion of the Vacuum Technology Microcredential prepares students for a career as a technician in vacuum technology to support vacuum-based processes used in industries such as semi-conductor, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), glass and optics, LED and solar cell and thin film coatings.
