GC 103 - Photo Editing


Credit Hours: 3

Learn the skills needed to master image manipulation and photographic retouching for use in the graphic communications industry. Explore the technical and artistic aspects of raster editing by creating images to be used in various types of print and digital media. Apply the knowledge of correct color mode usage and how to properly save files for various formats.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. output color proofs of images that have gone through basic image editing;
  2. create clipping paths, groups, masks and channels;
  3. work with vector images and create simple animations;
  4. identify and properly choose file formats;
  5. retouch photo, adjust resolution and image size, adjust tonal range.
  6. Identify and apply levels, curves and adjustment layers to image
