Create digital files for output using the procedures for basic concepts of trapping, spot color issues, duotone images, and preflight. Identify color theory and correction methods as it pertains to color separation, the additive and subtractive systems, under color removal and gray component replacement.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. prepare and output digital halftone images, electronic documents utilizing correct screen ruling, resolution and screen angles for PDF workflow and digital grayscale images as duotones
  2. understand and perform basic electronic trapping techniques for simple multicolor page layouts;
  3. Describe the basics of both additive and subtractive color;
  4. Apply the processes of color correction and color separation, and their relation to quality of print production;
  5. Identify the color separation techniques of gray component replacement (GCR) and under color removal (UCR);
