GC 251 - Web Design


Credit Hours: 3

Learn to create the basics of web site design using HTML and CSS programming. Prepare and upload files to the World Wide Web using FTP software. Utilize best practices for coding, site design, and optimization of search engines.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. understand the history and basic functions of the Internet and web browsers;
  2. identify the required applications and tools for publishing to the world wide web;
  3. design, create and implement HTML elements such as tables, forms, navigation bars, media objects and images;
  4. demonstrate the ability to create basic web site architecture HTML pages effectively utilizing CSS (cascading stylesheets) and publish them to the web;
  5. identify and utilize graphics file formats common to the Internet and web site design; and
  6. integrate and demonstrate the principles and elements of good design in relation to web site creation.
