Program Description
The Automotive Maintenance Program (AMP), sponsored by the West Herr Automotive Group, combines classroom and lab instruction with hands-on experience in a local West Herr facility. Students will gain valuable real-life experience by working as actual employees of a modern automotive maintenance facility. This program is unique because it offers a fast track into the automotive maintenance industry inside a local area, industry-leading, service department. Graduates will receive an Automotive Maintenance Certificate and will have the ability to perform automotive maintenance and light repairs in an entry-level position.
Program Competencies
Upon completion of the Automotive Maintenance (AMP), Certificate, students will be able to:
- employ safe working practices while maintaining, diagnosing, and servicing automotive systems;
- compose, in both oral and written form, a coherent, effective, and grammatically correct text for the purpose of automotive repair orders, estimates, and invoices;
- recognize when automotive service information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use the information effectively; and
- properly use tools to maintain, diagnose, and make minor repairs to light-duty vehicles.
